The Week Ahead: February 19th to 25th, 2018

Just a reminder…I am here if you need anything. You’ve got MULTIPLE ways of contacting me. Don’t be afraid to use one!

This week is going to have a lot of moving parts, but we will make it through quite strong and accomplished!

On Monday we will be submitting your IRR’s to the AP Digital Portfolio. If you are absent, be sure to ask me for an update on how to do this — do not do this on your own! There will also be a guest speaker coming in to talk about college and how to move forward the next few years!

Then, on Tuesday, you will be putting the pedal to the medal while working on your AICE presentation. This presentation must be finalized in PowerPoint, but can be worked on in Google Slides. The directions for this assignment can be found here.  This work will continue in class on Wednesday. By the 11:59pm on Wednesday, you must submit a minimum of six presentable slides to Google Classroom. On Thursday, you will be required to present these to your peers in class. Therefore, this should be a large chunk of your final presentation. **Please note, I am requiring this of you because I believe that you are not practicing enough for your presentations. This is important.**

You will return to class on Friday for a grammar QUEST and to make final edits and some practice of your presentations. Your final PowerPoint is due on Sunday to Google Classroom by 11:59pm. All of these directions are explained in the Google Classroom assignment.

There is a Saturday Session this week from 9am to 12pm to work on your AICE project!

Remember, practice makes perfect.
Sign up here to let me know your interested.

Minimum of 10 must sign up!

Our grammar focus this week is on our first list of commonly confused words. There is a practice on NoRedInk.com that is due on Wednesday by 11:59pm, and a QUEST for understanding first thing in class on Friday.

Our FSA focus this week is on nonfiction texts and looking at both context clues for the meaning of words, and determining the main idea. Our reading is on the Triangle Shirtwaist Factory Fire. It connects back to the John Steinbeck reading from last week. Pay attention to how it compares with working conditions in America. This is due next Monday on Commonlit.org.
