The Week Ahead: February 26th to March 4th, 2018

Good morning Global Writers! It is time for a new week!

Due to the case of the missing SD card, I have reconfigured the calendar through April 30th. You can find it here. It will also be posted on the back information board in the classroom.

Our main focus this week, in class, will be your AICE “team” presentations. The schedule of presentations can be found on Google Classroom, with the assignment where you submitted your final PowerPoint.

Your AICE Reflection & AICE Transcript will be due Sunday March 4th by 11:59pm to Google Classroom. They must both be submitted as Microsoft Word documents. There will be Google Classroom assignments set up for these documents. As soon as you present, you can begin your transcript. I will upload your videos to Classroom each evening. Your reflection directions can be found at the back of your presentation directions.

While students are presenting, I will be allowing you to begin diving into your AP Stimulus Materials.  For each article in the packet, I will ask you to annotate it and answer various questions. This will be outline further on Google Classroom with the respective assignments. This is a super important group of assignments because the better you understand the stimulus materials, the better your research question will be, and therefore the better your final IWA will be! Those of you who were with me on Saturday at school, know that there was a snafu in printing the packets off, but they should be ready by Tuesday! After you have digested the materials and read them, I will host a series of socratic seminars in class, so that together, we can understand them further.

Our grammar focus this week will continue to be commonly confused words. Last week’s set was a warm up, this week should challenge you a bit. Plan ahead because it is also a bit longer than last weeks. The practice will be due by Wednesday night on NoRedInk and you will have a follow up QUEST in class on Friday.

We will break from CommonLit this upcoming week, but you will be completing some writing on Friday in class to prepare for your FSA Writing test that you will take on March 5th in the Media Center. That is only a week from Monday! You are prepared, but we will take some class time on Friday to review style and tips! You will also receive you seating assignment in class for next Monday.
