The Week Ahead: April 23rd to April 27th, 2018

It’s a fresh week! That means it is a fresh start!

First things first, GREAT job on FSA last week! You have also been doing a GREAT job on your AP Seminar presentations!

There is an opportunity to take a practice General Paper exam. This is a great practice for the real test day. We will have it set up like the real test, with your candidate number, test booklets, and a script similar to that used by AICE! It will be held from 9:15 am to 11:15 am on Saturday, April 28th. If you are interested in joining, please sign up here.

Here is what is up in the classroom this week…

AP Seminar

We have (hopefully) four more days of presentations. I will be able to give NO MORE extensions for the presentations. Only reach out if there is an emergency.

Make sure you discuss with me if you have not yet entered your AP number into the digital portfolio, or submitted your IRR or IWA to the digital portfolio.

Everything must be submitted to AP by Sunday night including my placement of AP grades. This week is tight for getting everything done. Do your best to be in class and asking me for help to get stuff done!

AICE Global Perspectives

You will finally be given a practice Global exam. I know that last week was rough with my printing capabilities. I will have these printed for you on Monday morning. You can find a digital copies in the two links below:

Please answer these questions in blue or black ink on loose leaf paper with an MLA header at the top of the page. They are due at the beginning of class on Thursday. We are going to go over it in class on Thursday after presentations are over.

AICE General Paper

This week your GP practice prompt is:

How far are cultures other than European significant in your country?

Your writing focus is going to be conclusions.

On Wednesday you should come to class with a draft in your AICE packet. This draft will include an outline of your essay so that your peer & eventually myself, can see the thinking that lead you to your conclusion.

You final draft will be due on Friday on a loose leaf paper in blue or black in with an MLA header.

Don’t forget that The Skimm is a great daily resource to say up to date on the news around the world. Sign up here.

You can ALSO go back and watch OLD CNN 10 video’s (also known as CNN Student News). The exam was written about two years ago, so it could be pulling from the current events of that year. Here are some ideas of where to look:

2014 Year in Review from NBC News

2015 Year in Review from ABC News

2016 Year in Review from CBS News

By the end of the week, I pinky promise to let you know what the final weeks of the school will look like…I am working on some pretty awesome plans…or so I think so!
