Here we go with week 5 of school!
If you have any QUIZ or TEST make ups, I will be in my room at lunch on TUESDAY for these make ups! Make sure to stop by!
Day 1: We will start the week by making adjustments and edits to your assignment from Friday: A Day in the Life. This assignment was supposed to be a bit more extensive than most of you thoughts – so I am giving you CLASS time to make edits. You will also have a chance to start reading Chapter three of OMM and answer the reading questions. This will be homework if not finished in class. All is to be submitted on Google Classroom.
Day 2: You will start the class off with a quiz on Chapter 3! This will be just like the quizzes for chapters 1 & 2. Then we will take some time to answer any questions you have about the book so far.
We will also spend some time in class to discuss the Banned Book Independent Reading Directions so that you can move forward with your reading.
Any time that is left in class will be for you to start reading chapter 4 and annotating. This is homework for the next day. Annotations will be checked by the end of the week.
You will also need to do a small amount of pre-reading about socratic seminars to prepare for Day 3 for homework, and create two questions about chapters 1-4. Check Google Classroom for these directions on that day.
Day 3: We will spend the day discussing chapters 1-4 of Of Mice & Men via a Socratic Seminar. Your homework will be to write a reflection about the discussion.
Day 4: We will be reading and engaging with a CommonLit article to expand our knowledge of the text Of Mice & Men and to gain further perspectives of the characters. This will be released at the end of the week. There will be NO homework for the weekend!
12th Grade/British Literature
Day 1/Monday: We will begin our week by taking a quiz (successfully) on Book 2, chapters 1-7 of 1984. We will then begin reading chapter 9 together. The homework is to read chapters 9 & 10 and create two discussion questions for tomorrows class discussion. These questions should be posted to Google Classroom in the appropriate question/assignment.
We also will begin reading “52 Cups of Coffee” as a mini side project of anecdotes and writing throughout the rest of the school year.
Day 2/ Tuesday: We will discuss all of Book 2 in class on Tuesday and talk about what might happen in Book 3 to finish off the novel. We are also going to work to make connections to the world around us based on the events of Book 2.
Day 3/ Thursday: We will begin to discuss what it means to be a citizen and I will introduce your 1984 Good Citizen Multi-Media Project that will be continued through the rest of the week. It will be due Sunday evening by 11:59pm to Google Classroom. You will present your project in class on Monday September 24th.
Day 4/ Friday: ^ see above…
