The Week (+) Ahead: September 16 – 23, 2019

The next two weeks are going to be a bit odd because I will be out of the country from Wednesday, September 18th to Tuesdays September 24th. If you need anything during that time, please reach out and I will get back to you via email as soon as I can, but I cannot promise an immediate response. If it is a big issue, please reach out to another English teacher or Mr. Menendez. They will be able to contact me by alternative means.

Day 1:

We will start the week off with our spelling tests and creating a spelling list for the next test which will be on: September 30th. This is two weeks away instead of one.

After spelling, we will move into signing up for and joining the class for the year. While I am away, you will be asked to use this site to practice grammar. If you miss signing up the codes can be found on Google Classroom. This will wrap up our Monday.

Day 2:

To continue our informative learning for A Midsummer Night’s Dream, you will read two CommonLit’s about Greek Gods and Goddesses. What you do not complete in class will be homework. Since I am away, and these cover skills that were on the last summative, these will be summative assessments and placed in the grade book which will affect your average. Put your best work into these practices!

Day 3:

It’s time to work on grammar, usage, and mechanics! You will head over to NoRedInk to complete a grammar diagnostic. This should take you the whole period, but if you finish early you should have your independent reading book with you. Again, if you were not here on Monday to log in, the class code is available on Google Classroom.

Day 4:

Just like the last few weeks, you will finish off the week by reading your independent reading book! Don’t forget to check in on your reading plan and see if you need to adjust your reading for the next few weeks. You should be about 1/3 to ½ done with the book by the end of the week.

Day 1 (AKA 9/23/19):

I won’t be back until Tuesday, so I am giving you a heads up on that in class you will be completing a Tour of London through the eyes of Shakespeare. Be sure to bring a writing utensil, a computer, and a pair of scissors, if possible, to class!

AP Seminar

Monday: We are adjusting a little, but by the end of the class you should have a solid team research question and we will have gone over how to use our research resources!

Tuesday: This will be your first-in-class research day! It will be all about hard work, reading, and logging your work in your research log which can be found on Google Classroom!

Thursday & Friday (and Monday): The end of the week will be focused on researching more and writing. By the time you walk out of class on Friday you should have 3-4 of your annotations written! You will have class time on Monday to work too, and Tuesday to do some check in with me, but we will also have a lesson, so do not expect to have time to work in class! You can do it if you focus while you are in class. Your annotated bibliography will be due by the end of the day on Tuesday (9/24/19) to Google Classroom and which we will sign up for in class on Tuesday.
