Welcome back! Feliz año nuevo!
How??? Time has flown!
For our first week back in the classroom we reviewed nouns, verbs, and pronouns on Khan Academy. I also conferenced with all students who were in class. Many students also picked out their independent reading book for the upcoming quarter. If you were absent for the week, then you will need to make up all of this work, including conferences. I will be available to make up conferences during Panther Time on the next two Tuesdays. Please sign up on the sheet at the front of the classroom. Also, the make–up grammar test (nouns, verbs, pronouns) will take place on Tuesday, January 28th. This will be the only make-up date unless you provide me prior notice with a valid excuse of why you cannot be there.
This week, we will be completing some pre-reading work before we begin our next unit on Ayn Rand’s Anthem. We will read a CommonLit article and complete a team discussion and presentation. Each class will be at a different spot as I work to get all students who were absent caught up. Please be attentive in class so that you are aware of your due dates for the week. They will be different for each class.
As always, I am here to answer questions and to support you. Let me know whats going on and how I can help!
Are you ready to start your projects????
I am so excited to be moving into the exam and for you to see what all the talk has been about.
To start the week, you will take a Khan Academy test on the grammar concepts that you reviewed last week while I conferenced one-on-one with everyone. The test grades from the APA test you took on Friday have been uploaded to the grade book.
For the rest of the week, you will be completing an activity that allows you to convince others to create a team with you for Task 1 of the exam. On Friday, you will pitch your topic to your class. They will have the weekend to wade in the pool of facts and then on Monday, you will be creating teams to start your exam!
As always, I am here to answer questions (to the best of my AP ability) and to support you. Let me know whats going on and how I can help!
